Waldun Premium Red Label Western Red Cedar Shingles
Fivex Shingle 406mm
Red Label shingles are a cost-effective alternative to Number 1 grade, Blue Label. The primary difference is that they allow for limited sapwood and flat grain. The clear portion of the shingle must extend to a minimum of 254mm from the butt. Limited knots and defects are allowed above the clear portion, although they are unseen once installed as the overlap of the next course covers these defects.
Number 2 grade, Red Label shingles are typically used for garden buildings and structures such as sheds, gazebos, and treehouses. If left in their natural state, cedar shingles will weather gradually to an attractive silver-grey. Typically, this change will occur after a 6-9 month period. A finish may be applied to maintain or enhance the natural colour or change the colour entirely.
With their unique natural appearance, Western Red Cedar shingles will add a touch of individuality to your project. Their rich, warm colour tones and texture will add character and blend naturally with the environment. Western Red Cedar shingles and shakes also provide a high level of insulation, keeping buildings warm in winter and cool in summer. Their low carbon footprint and the fact that they are the only renewable roofing material make cedar shingles and shakes a true eco-material.
Number 2 Grade, Red Label shingles are sold in bundles. Each bundle of Fivex covers up to 1.86 m², Perfections cover 1.89m² and Royals, 2m² of roof area. In vertical cladding applications where the maximum exposure is increased, one bundle will cover up to 2.79m² for single coursing, or 4.18 m² for double coursing (on top of an underlayer of under-coursing grade shingles). Bundles contain shingles of random widths, with the minimum being 76mm.
