How to Lay Artificial Grass
Artificial grass is a great way to upgrade your garden. Using plastic grass rather than real grass ensures that your garden looks great all year long. With minimal maintenance, attractive appearance and safety - it is no surprise that more and more homeowners are opting for artificial grass in their gardens. Also, artificial grass is easy to lay down. In this guide, we will be discussing how to lay artificial grass to ensure it stays put and even harsh weather conditions can’t make it budge!
Ordering Artificial Grass
The first thing you need to do before ordering a batch of artificial grass is to measure your garden and work out how many square metres you need. You should allow room for excess, in case of mistakes. Then you are ready to order your grass!
At Beesley and Fildes, we have a wide range of different types of artificial grass to buy, so there is something for everyone. Some of our most popular types are Quest 30mm, Endeavour 30mm and Wisdom 40mm.
What Tools Do I Need?
You should ensure that you have the right tools for the job. Having the right tools will result in the best outcome. Here is what you need:
Prepping
If you prepare your garden properly, then you are more likely to get the results that you want. Follow these steps for the best results
- Remove old grass from your garden. You may need to use a turf cutter for larger gardens. For smaller gardens, you might get away with just pulling it up. Throw all waste in your skip.
- Tidy up your garden. Ensure all grass and extra waste are gone. Cut down large bushes or plants if needed. Also, remove all toys and garden equipment.
- Inset timber edging and lay down your first limestone base. This ensures that the ground is even, and it helps with draining.
- Lay down sharp sand. The smoother the finish, the easier it will be to lay down the grass.
- Add a membrane protective layer. This layer stops any weeds, plants or wildflowers from growing and ruining your perfect, new grass.
- Now you are ready to install the artificial grass!
